As a Cafe Assistant/Barista at Bibury Trout Farm, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional service to our visitors and ensuring a delightful experience at our cafe. You will be responsible for preparing and serving beverages, assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and engaging with customers in a friendly and professional manner. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a picturesque countryside setting, surrounded by the beautiful Bibury village and the tranquil river.
Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service: Greet and welcome customers in a friendly and attentive manner, ensuring a positive and memorable experience. Assist customers in selecting beverages and food items, providing recommendations when requested. Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints professionally and promptly.
2. Barista Duties: Prepare and serve a variety of high-quality coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, and specialty drinks. Adhere to established recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines to ensure consistency and excellence in every cup. Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other cafe equipment proficiently.
3. Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of food items.
4. Cash Handling: Process customer payments accurately using an EPOS system.
5. Cafe Maintenance: Clean and maintain the cafe area, including the coffee station, seating areas, tables. Ensure a tidy and organised environment at all times. Restock supplies, such as coffee beans, milk, cups, and condiments, as needed.
6. Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with other cafe staff members to ensure smooth operations and a cohesive team environment. Assist colleagues during busy periods and contribute to a positive work atmosphere.
7. Menu Knowledge: Familiarise yourself with the cafe's menu, including beverage options, food items, and any seasonal or daily specials. Stay updated on product knowledge and changes to the menu to effectively assist customers and answer their questions.
8. Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and cleanliness procedures. Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a barista or cafe assistant is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- This is for weekend shifts only.
