Coffee Shop Assistant / Barista

We are seeking a passionate, quality-driven Barista to join our team in our busy Cwmbran Town Centre & Newport Friars Walk stores. Working

30-40 Hours per week

over

4-5 days per week

between the hours of

8am - 5:30pm.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cafe environments with food production and great barista skills, and

must be fully flexible to work any hours during our normal trading pattern

to assist the business with holiday cover or during busy times and be willing to travel to work in both our Newport & Cwmbran stores when required.

This is a permanent role and so due to the nature of the hours required, this role is not suitable for anyone in full time education.

We are proud to be an independent, locally owned company with stores located in Friars Walk, Newport and our recently aquired Brown Bears Coffee House in Cwmbran town centre store.

We use only the best quality ingredients alongside oodles of passion, offering fantastic coffee and delicious food that we pride ourselves on.

We bake all of our cakes and muffins every day in our kitchen right here in-store to ensure they are the freshest they can be. Using only the best Arabica beans, we deliver the perfect coffee for our thriving local community..

Joining our team..

Our Cafe Assistants are the face of Coffee Corner & Brown Bears, They are responsible for serving all of freshly baked products with a friendly, individualised attention towards each customer. They are responsible for educating customers about our premium coffees and teas and represents Coffee Corner & Brown Bears in a professional manner.

On a typical shift you will be:

Greeting customers with a fast, friendly and personalised service, developing a rapport with the cutomers by learning their names, favourite drinks and food items Accurately processing sales using the EPOS system. Selling and serving baked goods and food items to the customer Preparing Customer orders including food items and cold drinks*
Prepare Hot Drinks using the Espresso Machine*
Preparing Food, Baking cakes and muffins*
Housekeeping duties*

Responsibilities

Prepare high quality coffee and drinks with care and consistency Understand milk textures, alternative milks, and recipe ratios Assist with food and kitchen prep when needed Create a warm, welcoming experience for every customer Keep the workspace clean, organised, and safe Work with the team to keep service smooth and friendly

What you will bring

Minimum 1 year barista experience in speciality coffee (essential)*

Great customer service skills with 1 years experience (essential)*
Strong knowledge of espresso, brew methods, and milk texturing*
Competent latte art skills (essential)*
Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage time effectively*
A positive, team-focused attitude with the confidence to lead when required*
Genuine passion for hospitality and customer service*
Have a strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices*
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both staff and customers.*
Able to work a variety of hours/ days across our trading week.*

Daytime hours only...no Evenings!

We are open daily 8am-5:30pm.*
