Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join our team for a minimum of 24 per week including Saturdays. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cafe, providing exceptional service to our customers while maintaining high standards of food safety and excellent barista skills. This position requires a proactive individual with strong time management skills and a passion for food preparation.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and presentation of food and beverages in accordance with cafe standards. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cafe area, including dining spaces and kitchen equipment. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene practices at all times. Provide excellent customer service by taking orders, answering queries, and assisting customers as needed. Manage inventory levels by monitoring stock and assisting with ordering supplies when necessary. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient cafe operations during busy periods. Perform basic mathematical calculations for order processing and cash handling.

Requirements

Previous experience in a cafe or food service environment is advantageous but not essential. Knowledge of food safety practices is highly desirable. Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Basic maths skills for handling transactions and inventory management. A genuine interest in food preparation and customer service. Ability to work well within a team as well as independently when required.

Job Types: Part-time, Temp to perm, Zero hours contract

Pay: Up to 12.60 per hour

Expected hours: 16 - 24 per week

Barista experience: 1 year (required) Hospitality: 1 year (required) customer service: 1 year (preferred)
