Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high standards of food safety. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting daily cafe operations and ensuring a welcoming experience for all visitors. Barista experience is preferred although full training can be provided. This full time role will include weekday and weekend shifts on a rota basis so please do not apply if you are a school student

Duties

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks, adhering to recipes and presentation standards. Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, and snacks in line with health and safety regulations. Serve customers at the counter or table, taking orders accurately and providing friendly assistance. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cafe area, including clearing tables and sanitising surfaces regularly. Manage cash register operations, including handling payments accurately using cash or electronic systems. Ensure compliance with food safety standards at all times by following proper hygiene procedures. Support stock management by replenishing supplies as needed and notifying management of low stock levels. Contribute to a positive team environment through effective communication and cooperation with colleagues.

Requirements

Previous experience as a barista or in a customer-facing food service role is desirable but not essential; training will be provided. Knowledge of food safety standards is preferred to ensure compliance with health regulations. Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods. Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately. Strong communication skills to interact politely and professionally with customers and team members. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Flexibility to work shifts that may include mornings, afternoons, or evenings as required. Pay: 7.50-12.21 per hour
