About Us:

California Cafe was established in February 2024 and is a fast-growing American Diner themed cafe with a very highly rated reputation for quality, creativity, and exceptional dining experiences. We're looking for a passionate and reliable Chef de Partie/Line Chef to join our culinary team and help us deliver outstanding meals to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with standards and recipes. Supervise and instruct staff to ensure cafe is operating to the highest standards including customer service, food preparation, cafe cleanliness and all food records are completed. Ensure food is prepared with high quality and in a timely manner. Follow all food safety and hygiene guidelines. Assist with inventory and stock rotation. Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Cover the Cafe Manager's role when necessary.

Hours of Work:

40 hours per week. There is no set roster. Will be required to work morning or evening shifts and some weekends when necessary. Additional hours will be available to cover staff absences.

Cafe is open Mon-Fri 06:00-22:00, and Saturday mornings.

There are plans to extend Saturday hours and to open on Sundays.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Line Cook or similar role in a busy kitchen. Understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment. Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. Excellent time management and multitasking skills. NVQ level 1 or 2 in food preperation (but not required). Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
