About the Role
As a Calibration & Quality Technician, you will be responsible for calibrating, maintaining, and repairing a variety of electronic and mechanical instruments and equipment used in our manufacturing processes, to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our products and compliance with industry standards.
Following an initial period focused on Calibration responsibilities (approximately 1 year), the successful candidate will transition into the role of Quality Technician. In this position, they will develop additional skills and play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing quality standards throughout the site.
Main responsibilities:
Calibration Services:
Perform calibration of electronic and mechanical instruments and equipment according to established procedures and specifications.
Ensure all calibration activities comply with ISO/IEC 17025 standards and other regulatory requirements.
Maintenance and Repair:
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
Perform routine maintenance and coordinate repairs with external service providers when necessary.
Conduct preventative maintenance of local exhaust ventilation systems (LEVs).
Conduct regular housekeeping audits, report and escalate findings as necessary.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date calibration records and certificates.
Prepare reports detailing calibration results and any deviations from standards.
Quality Assurance / H&S / Env:
Assist in the investigation and resolution of Quality issues.
Assist in developing and updating calibration procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Conduct periodic ESD and Legionella audits, report and escalate findings as necessary.
Participate in Risk Assessment activities, when required.
Inventory Management:
Source appropriate tooling and equipment to support production, either to replace existing types or to new specifications.
Manage calibration equipment inventory, ensuring tools are available and in good working condition.
Label and track all calibrated equipment appropriately.
Assist all departments in the managing of (chemicals or substances hazardous to health (COSHH) items and monitoring of expiration dates.
Remove any used or out of date substances or waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) to the hazardous waste storage, and arranging and assisting with collection by third parties.
Collaboration:
Work closely with production and quality assurance teams to resolve calibration-related issues.
As part of the Quality team, participate in relevant meetings and investigations, where requested.
Provide technical support and training to staff on equipment usage and care.
