The Control Room Operator plays a vital role in monitoring and managing operations within the control room environment.
This position requires keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to respond swiftly to various operational scenarios. The Control Room Operator will need to allocate drivers to live breakdowns. Make inbound and outbound calls to customers and suppliers keeping them updated. Book recovery jobs - take payments - add any specialist equipment and request authorisation. Invoice customers using a variety of rate cards.
It will be up to the control room operator to regularly check driver licences and keep files up to date for insurance as well as gain more contracts and customers
Responsibilities
Monitor and control equipment and processes from the control room, ensuring optimal performance.
Respond to live breakdowns, holiday requests and taking appropriate action to resolve issues promptly.
Maintain accurate logs of operations, including any incidents or irregularities.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless communication and coordination during operations.
Conduct routine inspections of equipment and driving licences /dbs checks identify potential issues before they escalate.
Assist in training new operators on standard operating procedures and emergency protocols.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
Contact new potential customers and allocate drivers for jobs in and out of hours
Qualifications
Proven experience in a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred.
Strong understanding of control room operations and equipment.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically under pressure.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear reporting and collaboration with team members.
Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends as required by operational demands.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations relevant to the industry is advantageous.
A proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
