People come to Northern for trains they can rely on - but they stay because we keep things moving. Our Marketing team plays a key role in that momentum, bringing brilliant ideas to life across the North. From eye catching station posters to digital campaigns that get people talking, this is where stories are told, brands are built, and journeys are made easier.
As a Campaign Marketing Manager, you'd be responsible for making sure our marketing strategy goes from a top line plan to a live campaign across the marketing mix. Your work will help deliver ambitious revenue goals and shape the way customers see, feel, and connect with Northern. It's a role with real visibility, bringing together insight, creativity and collaboration to deliver work that moves the dial.
What you'll be doing
Planning and delivering marketing campaigns across TV, radio, digital, print and more - from initial brief through to final analysis.
Making sure every campaign delivers on key brand and business goals - whether that's driving revenue, encouraging digital adoption, or strengthening our place in the community.
Working closely with our agencies and internal teams to bring campaign concepts to life - on time and on budget.
Managing our partnerships, including our gamification activity with Playable and our 240,000 relationship with the Rugby Super League.
Being the brand guardian - making sure every touchpoint reflects who we are and what we stand for.
Supporting the rollout of new branding across stations, trains, and internal comms.
Writing and editing clear, relevant campaign copy.
Preparing detailed campaign plans and post-campaign reports that show what worked and what could work even better next time.
About you
Multi-channel, multi-stakeholder, multi-talented - that's three things you'll bring to the table. You'll be someone who knows how to manage big campaigns and big budgets, with the confidence to guide agencies and influence colleagues.
You'll have:
Experience delivering marketing campaigns across a mix of channels
A collaborative, persuasive style that helps bring people with you
Experience managing internal and external stakeholders
Confidence using insight and analytics to shape and report on campaigns
Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple deadline
A high degree of ownership. Once its your task, you'll own the process fully until the jobs done
Bonus points if you've worked in transport, travel or tourism, or used tools like Asana, the adobe suite and any tools that demonstrate experience in data analysis. A relevant marketing qualification (or working towards one) is a plus too.

Why Northern?
We're more than just a train operator. We're the heartbeat of the North - connecting communities, creating opportunities, and driving sustainable growth. With 2,500 trains running daily, we're on a mission to improve rail travel and enhance the customer experience while protecting the environment.
Back in 1825, the first passenger train set off in the North of England, after which rail quickly spread across the globe - and this year, we're celebrating 200 years of the modern railway. As we look back on the historic events that led us here, we also look towards the future as we move into the era of Great British Rail. Join us at this pivotal moment in rail history and play your part in our journey.
A place for everyone
The best journeys happen when everyone feels welcome on board.
At Northern, we don't just move people from A to B - we're building a team where everyone feels they belong. Our talent team can make reasonable adjustments to the process if that's something you need. We're also a Level 2 Disability Confident employer, so if you meet the minimum criteria for the role, we'll always offer an interview.
We automate parts of our screening process to remove any unconscious bias and to make sure every application is treated fairly. All successful offers will be subject to a DBS check and a medical assessment.
No matter your background, experience, or whether you call it a bap, barm, or cob... there's a place for you here in the railway.
