Morton Manor is a 30?bed nursing home in Gainsborough, providing high?quality care across two buildings. We are dual?registered for both

nursing

and

residential

clients, supporting a diverse group of residents with varying dietary, cultural, and clinical needs. Our aim is to create a warm, homely environment where nutritious, enjoyable meals play a key role in resident wellbeing.

Purpose of the Role



To plan, prepare, and deliver nutritious, well?balanced meals that meet the dietary needs, preferences, and cultural requirements of residents. The Cook plays a vital role in promoting health, comfort, and enjoyment through high?quality food and a well?managed kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Meal Preparation & Service



Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals in line with the home's menus and resident preferences. Ensure meals are attractively presented and served on time across both buildings. Adapt meals for residents with modified diets, allergies, swallowing difficulties, or clinical needs (e.g., fortified diets, diabetic diets). Support themed meals, special occasions, and resident?led food activities.

Menu Planning & Dietary Compliance



Contribute to menu planning that reflects seasonal produce, resident feedback, and nutritional standards. Work with care staff and nurses to ensure dietary requirements are understood and met. Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, deliveries, and dietary notes.

Kitchen Hygiene & Safety



Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment at all times. Follow all food hygiene, infection control, and health & safety procedures. Ensure compliance with

Food Standards Agency

requirements and internal audits. Manage stock rotation, ordering, and safe storage of food items.

Teamwork & Communication



Work collaboratively with care staff to coordinate mealtimes and support residents' nutritional needs. Communicate effectively with residents to understand preferences and gather feedback. Support kitchen assistants (if applicable) and contribute to a positive team culture.

Record Keeping



Ensure documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with organisational standards.

What We're Looking For

?

Essential



Experience working as a Cook or Chef, ideally in a care home or similar setting. Knowledge of food hygiene, allergens, and safe catering practices. Ability to prepare nutritious meals for varied dietary needs. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently. A caring, resident?focused approach. Willingness to use electronic systems such as PCS (training provided).

Desirable



Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain). Experience supporting people with dementia or complex needs. Knowledge of IDDSI levels and modified diets.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.42 per hour
