Key Responsibilities: Preparation & Cooking
Prepare and cook meals in accordance with agreed-upon menus and portion control
Ensure meals are nutritious, well-presented, and appropriate for residents' needs
Prepare specialist diets, including:
Modified textures (soft, minced, pureed)
Diabetic, low-salt, gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and allergen-free diets
Adapt menus to reflect residents' preferences and cultural requirements

Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen at all times

Ensure correct storage, labelling, rotation, and temperature control of food
Complete and maintain food safety records, including temperature checks and cleaning schedules

Person Specification: Essential
Experience of cooking in a commercial or care setting
Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling
Ability to prepare meals for special dietary requirements
Good organisational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
Level 2 Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Experience working in a care home or healthcare setting
Understanding of CQC standards relating to nutrition and hydration
Physical & Environmental Demands
