Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our culinary team as a care home cook. This role is essential in ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently, providing high-quality meals to our valued customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a commitment to maintaining food safety standards.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menus. Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner while maintaining high standards of quality. Assist in meal preparation, including chopping, marinating, and seasoning ingredients. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods. Monitor stock levels of ingredients and report any shortages to the kitchen manager. Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of food safety practices.

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment. Strong culinary skills with an understanding of various cooking techniques. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for maintaining hygiene standards. Previous experience in a restaurant setting is advantageous. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks during busy service periods. A passion for food and cooking, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
