Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and skilled individual to join our team as a Care Home Head Cook.

This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen and delivering high-quality meals to our customers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a keen understanding of food safety standards. Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards. Help create the care home menus involving residents. Assist in meal preparation, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and properly stored. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during busy periods. Handle food items safely and effectively, minimising waste and maximising quality. Support the serving staff by preparing plates for service and assisting with presentation. Overseeing inventory management, including stock rotation and ordering of food and kitchen supplies as needed. Managing the completion of kitchen checks to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and legislation. Attend resident meetings to talk about food and drink.

Experience:

Previous kitchen experience is essential, with a focus on food preparation and cooking. Experience of working in a care home kitchen desired but not essential. Familiarity with food safety practices and regulations is required. Experience in meal preparation techniques and serving methods will be advantageous. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work well within a team are crucial for success in this role. Qualifications:

Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in catering
Hours of work:

Week 1: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday

Week 2: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday.

Start: 07:30 Finish: 17:30

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 15.80 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
