We are seeking a passionate and motivated Care Manager who is looking to build a career in complex care. You will work closely with experienced managers to support the safe and effective delivery of high-quality, person-centred complex care services in a supported living settings.
To lead and manage a high-complex supported living or residential care service for adults with learning disabilities, autism, and other complex needs. You will be responsible for the overall quality, compliance, safety, and person-centred delivery of care, ensuring CQC regulatory standards are met and exceeded.
This role requires a person with exceptional people management and communication skills to support and mentor our fantastic team of Carers and act as the lynchpin between the care giving and senior leadership teams. The ideal candidate will offer a great deal of flexibility, be focussed in achieving operational goals and possess the strength and determination to support us in taking our business to the next level.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Provide strong leadership to staff teams across one or more high-complex care settings.
Interview, recruit, train carers, develop and manage a team of support workers and team leaders
To recruit, select and effectively supervise the workforce
Lead by example in delivering high-quality, person-centred care
To ensure training needs of all staff are met effectively - implement induction programmes and identify and provide for on-going training needs
Ensure consistent application of company policies, procedures and approved practice; and to promote the aims of the business
Continually review and improve processes to ensure the most effective and efficient service is being delivered
To ensure all staff receive supervision and appraisals
Care Quality & Compliance
Ensure the service meets or exceeds
CQC regulations and standards
(KLOEs).
Ensure outstanding compliance across the business and to support the business in achieving a minimum of "Good" in CQC inspections
Develop and implement individualised support and care plans.
Conduct regular audits, reviews, and risk assessments.
Safeguard the rights, dignity, and well-being of all service users.
Act as the
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
for the service.
Clinical & Complex Needs Oversight
Oversee support for individuals with high-complex needs such as:
Challenging behaviours
Autism spectrum conditions
Physical disabilities
Epilepsy or medical needs (PEG feeding, mobility issues)
Mental health conditions
Liaise with multidisciplinary teams: GPs, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and commissioners.
Operational Management
Manage staff rotas, budgets, occupancy, and resources efficiently.
Ensure health and safety and medication policies are followed.
Respond effectively to emergencies, complaints, and incidents.
Person-Centred Focus
Promote independence, community inclusion, and meaningful activity.
Involve individuals and families in care planning and service improvement.
Uphold the principles of
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
and
Active Support
.
Any other ad-hoc duties as required by the business.
Person Specification
Hold at least Level 3 Health & Social Care NVQ or equivalent. Hold or be working towards NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care Management and Leadership.
Excellent understanding of CQC assessment criteria
Management experience of service provision in the care industry
Highly driven and ambitious, who has the desire to make a real difference and greatly improve an already well-established business
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to talk passionately about our services and values to potential referral sources
Good computer skills including proficient use of MS Office, the ability to produce reports and good computer systems knowledge
Working knowledge of Regulatory Frameworks and Regulatory Body Inspection processes and documentation
Self-motivated and flexible, with a willingness to participate in an on-call system for out of office hours
Extremely well organised, excellent planning and prioritising ability with high attention to detail
Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships
