Senior Carer / Supervisor

to join our busy and friendly residential care home for elderly residents.

About the Role:


As a Senior Carer / Supervisor, you'll play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the home. You'll oversee shifts, support and develop the care team, and ensure that residents receive safe, dignified, and person-centred care at all times. In the absence of the Care Home Manager, you'll take responsibility for the smooth running of the home.

Key Responsibilities:



Oversee each shift, allocating duties and ensuring safe and effective care delivery. Lead and support care staff, providing supervision, guidance, and regular staff development. Prepare, update, and maintain resident care plans. Manage the safe administration and recording of medication, including controlled drugs. Liaise with healthcare professionals, social work, NHS support teams, and external agencies. Monitor nutrition and hydration to ensure residents' needs are met. Carry out audits on care practices and infection prevention & control. Respond to and record accidents, incidents, and complaints, reporting to management as required. Welcome and support visitors, ensuring documentation and procedures are followed. Support meaningful activities for residents, promoting wellbeing and independence. Maintain health, safety, and security across the home, ensuring compliance with legislation and policies.

What We're Looking For:



SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care

(essential). Registration with the

SSSC

(or willingness to register within the required timescale).

PVG Registered

(or willing to apply). Knowledge of the

SSSC Code of Practice

. Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team. Excellent communication, professionalism, and a caring, empathetic approach. Ability to work effectively with residents, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
