About the Role

Facilities Management are seeking to appoint a Caretaker to join the team at St. Edward's CE Primary School. This is an important role within a busy and welcoming school environment, supporting the daytoday running, safety and cleanliness of the site.


32.5 hours per week based on a split shift Monday to Friday 7am-9.30am & 2.30pm-6.30pm.


This is a Term Time Only Contract whereby you only work in school terms. Plus an additional 4 weeks to be worked in schools holiday periods to be agreed by the school to undertake deep cleaning during the school holidays.


Please note hours maybe subject to change dependent on the needs of the service. Overtime may be required time to time and the appropriate rate will be paid.

We are looking for someone who is a hard-working, energetic and honest person with excellent customer care skills and the ability to provide a quality service at this busy school site.


The successful candidate will:

Responsible for maintaining an excellent standard of cleanliness of designated areas in the building and duties will include toilets and associated facilities against an agreed cleaning specification and good attention to detail. Able to complete practical handyman tasks. Ability to work to tight timescales is essential and a flexible approach Be able to work independently using initiative and as part of a team Able to communicate clearly with and relate positively to all members of the school team. Knowledge of Health & Safety at work Ability to recognise the importance of ensuring a secure and safe environment of the site to include record keeping and the completion of compliance tasks.

Experience is essential, although persons with skills appropriate and a willing attitude are invited to apply.

Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced DBS including a barred list check child workforce.

Candidates who are unsuccessful after interview may be considered for casual caretaker/cleaner positions within Facilities Management. The hourly rate for a Casual Cleaner is 12.65.
