Job Description

Sarrf Interior is a growing furniture retail and repair business specialising in beds, sofas, wardrobes and other household furniture. We require a skilled Carpenter and Joiner to support the manufacture, assembly, installation and repair of our furniture products, ensuring high-quality finishes and timely delivery for our customers. The role is essential to maintaining production quality, meeting bespoke customer requirements and supporting the continued growth of the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Carpenter and Joiner will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

Furniture Manufacture & Assembly

Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber, board and related materials to produce beds, wardrobes, sofas frames and other furniture items according to specifications and drawings. Operate woodworking machinery, hand tools and power tools safely and accurately. Prepare and assemble flat-pack and bespoke furniture components in the workshop and on-site.

Installation & Fitting

Install and fit wardrobes, beds, shelving and other fitted or freestanding furniture at customer premises where required. Ensure all installations are level, secure and finished to a high standard. Adapt and trim components on-site to account for variations in room dimensions and conditions.

Repair & Refurbishment

Inspect damaged or faulty furniture to diagnose issues and determine appropriate repair methods. Carry out structural repairs, reinforcement, re-joining, re-finishing and re-upholstery support (where appropriate). Restore or improve furniture to meet company quality standards and customer expectations.

Design Interpretation & Bespoke Work

Read and interpret technical drawings, sketches and measurements provided by management or clients. Provide input on practical construction methods, materials and fixings for bespoke designs. Produce prototypes, custom pieces and modifications to standard products where required.

Quality Control & Compliance

Check all work for accuracy, durability and quality of finish before dispatch or installation. Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety regulations and company policies. Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop and working environment.

Stock, Tools & Equipment

Monitor usage of timber, boards, fittings and consumables and report low stock levels to management. Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any defects or maintenance needs. Assist with the loading and unloading of materials and finished products as required.

Customer Service & Teamwork

Interact professionally with customers during deliveries, installations and repairs. Work collaboratively with the sales, logistics and customer service teams to meet agreed deadlines. Provide technical advice to colleagues on joinery, assembly and installation issues.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications



Essential:



Proven experience as a Carpenter, Joiner or Furniture Maker, preferably in a furniture retail, manufacturing or repair environment. Strong practical skills in woodworking, joinery and use of both hand and power tools. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans and measurements. High attention to detail and commitment to producing a high-quality finish. Good understanding of health and safety practices in a workshop and on-site environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to meet agreed deadlines.

Desirable:



Formal qualification in Carpentry and Joinery or a related discipline (e.g. NVQ, diploma or equivalent). Experience with bespoke or fitted furniture (e.g. wardrobes, bedroom sets, shelving). Full UK driving licence (for site visits and installations).
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 33,400.00 per year
