Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Floor Layer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of flooring in commercial and residential settings. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. The ideal applicant will have experience with hand tools, power tools, carpentry, and schematics, ensuring high-quality workmanship in every project.

Responsibilities

Prepare subfloors by cleaning, levelling, and repairing surfaces to ensure proper installation Measure and cut flooring materials accurately using hand tools and power tools Install a variety of flooring types including hardwood, vinyl, laminate, and carpet according to specifications Follow schematics and technical drawings to ensure precise placement and alignment Use construction painting techniques for finishing touches when necessary Operate hand tools such as chisels, hammers, and saws, along with power tools including drills and sanders Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety regulations Collaborate with other tradespeople such as carpenters and painters to complete projects efficiently Assist in the removal of old flooring materials and prepare surfaces for new installations

Experience

Proven experience in construction or flooring installation is essential Familiarity with using hand tools, power tools, and carpentry techniques Ability to read schematics and technical drawings accurately Experience with construction painting is advantageous but not mandatory Knowledge of safety procedures related to construction sites is required Prior experience working with diverse flooring materials will be highly regarded
