Casual hours are available over 48 weeks a year, with all sessions shutting for two weeks in August and two weeks over the Christmas period. Staff may also have the option to deliver on our holiday provision, to cover other holiday/sickness throughout the
year and to work and support Blackburn Rovers Community Trust's matchday activities.

Blackburn Rovers Football Club, Ewood Park Stadium (Darwen End), Blackburn, BB2 4JF and Youth Centres across Blackburn with Darwen (BwD)

Overall purpose of the Job:
This role will involve working within the local community (predominantly under 18s) of Blackburn with Darwen to deliver youth engagement (and optionally sport) provision. The post holder will support a varied youth engagement timetable targeting a variety of ages between 8 and 19 (and up to 25 for those with SEND).
The role requires an individual with experience working in a youth club/community sport setting and a good understanding of children/young people in the borough.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To be responsible for the following:
Support the delivery of a varied programme of youth engagement opportunities across BwD neighbourhoods.
Work as part of the team delivering sessions within the neighbourhood provision, including the Premier League Kicks programme.
Contribute to the development of innovative new activities.
Help foster and maintain a positive culture across all delivery.
Attend relevant meetings and training as required.
Assist with managing sports facilities and equipment.
Promote the Neighbourhood offer within local communities
Support the monitoring and evaluation of sessions.
General:

Experience:
Essential:
Experience Delivering/designing a variety of youth/sports sessions in a community setting, often with disaffected hard-to-reach young people.
Experience of supporting/developing a programme of activities for young people.
Experience of working with communities similar to those in Blackburn, particularly with young people from ethnic minority backgrounds.
Desirable:
Experience of working with a charity and/or a professional football club community scheme and/or a community setting.
Knowledge:
Essential:
Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and young people (CYP).
Good knowledge of youth work practice, including creative and innovative approaches to engagement.
Awareness of local demographics and the barriers faced by minority groups in society.
Understanding of youth work values and principles, and the ability to embed these into practice.
Knowledge of the issues affecting the lives of CYP, with a proven track record of delivering engaging and innovative youth work.
Ability to work in line with national, local, and organisational safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
Desirable:
Knowledge of sport, including the use of non-traditional activities to engage a wide range of children and young people (CYP).
Awareness of current and emerging CYP policy and best practice.
Experience of promoting the brand and values of a professional football club within the local community.
Skills:
Essential:
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with young people, parents, carers, and colleagues, while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a range of audiences (CYP, colleagues, partner organisations, etc.).
Experience of mentoring and supporting children and young people.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Capacity to motivate, inspire, and positively influence others.
Highly organised, with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
Desirable:
Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience of promoting programmes and recruiting participants onto activities.
Ability to communicate in a second language commonly spoken within the local area (desirable).
Effective conflict management skills.
Qualifications:
Essential:
Minimum Level 1 NGB Sports qualification, Level 1 Youth Work or relevant experience (willing to work towards Level 1/2 qualifications)
FA Introduction to Coaching Football (or willingness to complete)
Desirable:
Level 2/3 Youth Work (JNC qualified)
UEFA C License
Youth Mental Health First Aid
