Job Description

PURPOSE:

The Casual Technician is responsible for the technical delivery of specific performances and events both at The Spring and as part of our outreach programme, providing first class support to visiting companies, artists and hirers.

Hours: Zero Hours Contract, shifts are allocated on a rota system

Salary: National Minimum Wage (plus holiday pay)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Operations

Act as duty technician for specific performances at The Spring including:
- Ensuring the theatre, performance spaces or other rooms are prepared, tidy and ready for each event in advance of the company, artist or users arrival as per their rider or technical requirements

- Attending and supporting get ins, get outs and rehearsals

- Supporting visiting company stage management and technicians

- Provide basic sound engineering, sound design, and sound operation

- Provide basic lighting design, engineering and operation

- Provide set, staging construction and rigging

Support the installation, dismantling and lighting of visual arts and heritage exhibitions. Participate in events that take place off site providing technical support and advice when required. Follow and complete internal processes around feedback and reporting.

Maintenance and Health & Safety

Support the Technician to undertake maintenance and testing (e.g. PAT testing etc.) and all equipment is safe and fit for purpose and stored appropriately at all times Support the Technician to service and front line repair of all technical equipment

Other Duties

Attend training and briefing sessions as required. Work with the rest of the staff as required to ensure The Spring provides an excellent experience for all our visitors Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required by the Operations Manager Abide by The Spring's policies and procedures at all times
