Category Buyer - IT and Electronics
Location: Fareham, Hybrid working
Salary: 35,000 - 36,359 + Annual Bonus
This is an opportunity to join a recently formed group procurement function within a successful and expanding international business. We're seeking a Category Buyer to take ownership of procurement activities across a range of specialist categories, supporting the delivery of complex engineered systems used in high-reliability environments.
Key Responsibilities of the Category Buyer
Reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain, Supporting 2 UK and 1 international business site.

• Develop and execute category strategies and procurement plans
• Source and manage suppliers for IT hardware, electronics, computing, custom cable assemblies, and technical services
• Conduct market research and supplier capability assessments
• Negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance
• Collaborate with internal teams across operations, engineering, and finance
• Analyse procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
• Maintain accurate documentation and supplier records

Ideal experience of the Category Buyer

• Minimum 3 years' experience in procurement or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Experience with ERP systems and procurement software
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• BPSS clearance eligibility
• Experience in electronics, IT, or cable assembly procurement
