Job Title: Cavity Wall Fitter/Extractor

Overview:

The Cavity Wall Insulation Fitter/Extractor is responsible for installing or removing cavity wall insulation in residential buildings. This role involves using specialised tools and equipment to add or extract insulation materials from cavity walls to improve energy efficiency, reduce heating costs, and maintain building integrity. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience, be detail-oriented, and follow strict safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Cavity Wall Insulation Installation

:

Drill holes into the building's external walls to access cavities. Safely inject approved insulation materials (such as bead, fiber, or foam) into wall cavities using specialised machinery. Seal drilled holes upon completion to ensure a weather-tight finish. Ensure all work complies with relevant building regulations and quality standards.

Cavity Wall Insulation Extraction

:

Assess the insulation condition and determine extraction requirements. Drill access points or remove sections of exterior wall to extract insulation. Use high-powered vacuum or other removal equipment to remove existing insulation materials efficiently. Ensure complete extraction of insulation material from wall cavities, adhering to building guidelines. Safely dispose of extracted insulation materials according to environmental and safety regulations.

Health & Safety Compliance

:

Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and that job sites are secure and hazard-free. Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to local safety guidelines and company policies.

Customer Service

:

Interact with clients to explain the process, address concerns, and provide guidance on aftercare. Ensure minimal disruption to clients' properties and clean up after work is completed. Provide documentation of completed work, including any relevant certificates or inspection reports.

Qualifications:

Experience

: Prior experience in cavity wall insulation fitting or extraction, construction, or energy efficiency is preferred.

Technical Skills

: Proficient with tools and machinery used for cavity wall insulation and extraction.

Attention to Detail

: Able to accurately follow specifications and ensure thorough insulation or extraction.

Physical Stamina

: This role involves manual labor and may require working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.

Safety Knowledge

: Familiarity with health and safety standards, particularly regarding insulation materials and building integrity.

Communication

: Good communication skills to interact professionally with clients and team members.
