oin our collaborative team working across two councils to deliver a vital public safety and customer-focused service.
We're looking for a vigilant, reliable, and customer-focused CCTV Operator to join our Shared Service Control Room, working on behalf of Fenland District Council and Peterborough City Council.
As part of a close-knit team, you'll help monitor public space surveillance systems, respond to incidents, and support out-of-hours services for both councils. This role requires excellent observation, communication, and customer service skills - all within a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
What you'll
be doing:
Monitoring CCTV systems and public space surveillance cameras across both council areas
Identifying and reporting incidents in real time to police and other emergency services
Logging detailed incident reports and preparing evidential footage when required
Handling Out of Hours (OOH) customer calls and logging service requests or emergency callouts for both councils
Responding to lone worker alarms and emergency alerts
Carrying out routine checks to ensure system and camera functionality
Maintaining high standards of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism in all work
Supporting other control room functions and system users as needed
What we're
looking for:
Excellent observation skills with strong attention to detail
Confident handling both public safety and customer-facing Out of Hours calls
Calm and professional under pressure, especially during live or emergency incidents
Clear and effective communication skills - both written and verbal
Basic IT skills and willingness to learn new systems and procedures
Ability to follow policies, escalate issues appropriately, and work independently
Previous experience in a control room, contact centre, or emergency services setting is an advantage but not essential - full training is provided
Security clearance and
licensing requirements:
Due to the sensitive nature of the role, successful candidates will be required to:
Undergo Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV Level 2) clearance
Pass an enhanced DBS check
Hold or be willing to obtain a Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) SIA licence
(Training and support may be provided for suitable candidates.)
Failure to obtain or maintain the required vetting or licensing may affect ongoing employment in this role.
