We are proud to be Music School of the Year 2025 and Highly Commended at the Surrey Business Awards. Our purpose is simple: we make musicians and communities. We believe music has the power to build confidence, connection, and courage. Our Guildford Centre is the heart of our local community, and we are looking for someone special to be its driving force.
The Role
We are looking for a natural organiser who loves connecting people.
As our Centre Coordinator, you won't just be sitting behind a desk. You will be the face of The Music Works in every interaction. You will take ownership of the space, ensuring every student, parent, and teacher has an exceptional experience from the moment they walk through the door.
This is a dynamic role where you wear many hats. One moment you might be the friendly, guiding voice for a new family starting their musical journey; the next, you might be designing a fun window display or managing the diary for a Company Director.
Service Deliverables
We are looking for a contractor to ensure our centre is managed and staffed during our core operational hours:
Service Coverage:
The contract requires the centre to be staffed and managed during the following core hours:
Tuesday & Thursday: 15:15 - 20:45
Schedule & Coverage:
Term-Time (46 Weeks):
On-site management required during core hours.
Centre Closure (6 Weeks):
During closure periods, the role shifts to flexible remote monitoring (checking enquiries/admin) which can be done from home or away to suit your lifestyle.
Right of Substitution:
As a freelancer, you manage your own time off. If you are unavailable for any scheduled service (term-time or holiday monitoring), you have the right to provide a suitable substitute.
What matters most to us:
You build community:
You understand that every interaction is an opportunity to build trust. You are the warm welcome that makes our centre feel like home.
You take ownership (Responsibility):
You treat the centre like your own. You proactively look for ways to improve the space--whether that's keeping the coffee machine running, maintaining high standards of hygiene, or organising the waiting area.
You are articulate:
You communicate clearly and consistently with parents, students, and our central team. You handle sensitive information with maturity and discretion.
You lead with empathy:
You nurture new enquiries from the first phone call to the first lesson, understanding that starting something new can be nerve-wracking for parents and kids alike.
Your Skills & Experience
Customer Service:
A background in customer service is not necessary but is highly desirable.
Exceptional Organisation:
You have a keen eye for detail--you are the person that catches the mistakes and helps fix them!
Commercial Awareness:
You spot opportunities to help our community grow.
Tech Savvy:
Proficient with Microsoft 365 and comfortable managing schedules/diaries.
Proactive Attitude:
You don't wait to be asked; you look for creative ways to improve the customer experience.
An interest in music is a huge plus!
