Job Description

Job Purpose

:

The Early Years Centre Lead will, during term time, be able to professionally lead and manage a team of early year's practitioners, trainees and volunteers in the day-to-day running of the childcare centre. They will be able to offer a safe, caring, stimulating and inclusive environment for children to develop and learn; use strong leadership skills to support the team in recognising areas for development in order to create a highly knowledgeable and skilled workforce; continually reflect on practice and develop the centre in line with organisational and government initiatives; create an atmosphere where parents/carers, staff and other professionals work in partnership to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children; and ensure the sustainability of the setting is maintained.

Leadership Responsibilities:



Responsible for day to day running of the designated Early Years and Play-work centre creating a safe, caring, stimulating and inclusive environment that promotes learning through play.

Ensure all team members are working with children in line with Mr Bee's ethos, pedagogy and curriculum.

Maintain a team spirit and promote team well being, ensuring each member of the team is shown care and respect regardless of personal differences.

Ensure families are made aware of the Mr Bee's ethos during induction and put in effective systems of communication by preparing and distributing information to parents on a regular basis.

Establish and promote a learning environment in which the emotional, social, psychological, physical, developmental and educational well-being of children is paramount and in which a supportive, empathetic and non-judgemental approach is used in all interactions with children and their families, particularly during the introduction and settling in processes.

Ensure the physical environment, both inside and out, is safe, stimulating, clean, in good condition and accessible ensuring all team members endorse an environment which has high quality continuous and enhanced provision which lead to high levels of involvement and well-being.

Promote inclusive attitudes and practices to accommodate and support the diversity of the local community.

Promote, encourage and support the active involvement of parents/carers as a child's first educator and experts on their child, including childminders as partners.

Ensure that all team members are fully aware and where appropriate trained in the Family Support Process and that families and team members are fully informed about their local children centre.

Ensure the safe delivery and collection of children to local schools.

Ensure access to the children by unsuitable people is not permitted by maintaining building security procedures at all times children are present.

Ensure safety of children and team members during walks and outings outside of the centre, ensuring only vehicles which have been approved to transport are used.

Lead regular team meetings as appropriate to reflect on provision, provide in-house training and update members on both government and organisational policy and procedures.

Ensure all health and safety records are completed in line with policy and procedure.

Management Responsibilities



Manage a team of qualified, trainee and volunteer staff providing childcare and early education or play-work to local families.

Work closely with members of the team, other centre leads, the Senior EYP Lead and the Finance Officer as part of a mutually supportive management team.

Recruiting and inducting suitably qualified and experienced staff in partnership with the Senior EYP.

Supporting and developing the team through regular supervision and appraisal.

Undertake continual professional development as identified during supervision by Senior EYP as well as assist with the identification and planning of delivery of training to the whole Mr. Bee's team.

Monitor provision, collect and collate statistical data and prepare reports as requested by the Senior EYP and well as associated children centre's following information sharing protocol.

Attend childcare development meetings and contribute to the development of high quality childcare and out of school services including developing appropriate policies and procedures to meet all National Standards, environmental, health and safety and fire regulations.

Ensure effective day-to-day management and administration at the designated centre, including record-keeping, report-writing, monitoring, database maintenance, etc.

Ensure that all Safeguarding Children Partnership procedures are implemented and adhered to by all team members.

Manage the designated centre budget for the early years care and play-work, including fundraising and funding applications to support the centres sustainability.

Report accidents and incidents to appropriate organisations.

Administrative Responsibilities:



Ensure all documentation relating to children and team members attending the centre are completed and stored in line with our confidentiality policy and only shared in line with our information sharing policy.

Ensure all registers are prepared and maintained whilst ensuring adult child ratios met at all times and appropriate information sent to Head Office for invoicing.

Support the effective administration of fee collection in line with Mr. Bee's Charging policy and fees are banked in line with procedures.

Ensure only authorised personnel have access to fees and petty cash.

Provision and Promotion of High Quality Play and Learning opportunities



Responsible for the provision of safe, secure, stimulating and inclusive care and learning environments for young children, which enable children to develop to their full potential while encouraging positive relationships.

Work closely with and complement the role of the Senior EYP.

Work with Room leaders and the SMT to monitor the quality of care and education through observation of all early year staff members as part of supervision and appraisal and to reflect on practice.

Ensure that all team members understand and operate the key person system to its full potential and ensure that children's well being is maintained at the highest level.

Ensure children's progress is supported and all team members adheres to Mr Bee's Observation, Assessment and Planning guidance, assessing the needs of all children and share information regularly with parents in the form of starting points and/or development plans.

Supervise activity planning to make sure that children's needs are met.

Promote an environment where children are encouraged to explore and investigate, initiating their own activities and play as much as is practicable, while ensuring that the critical elements of an early years curriculum are fulfilled.

Promote a creative and innovative range of play and learning experiences, making full use of indoor and outdoor opportunities and facilities, utilising external facilitators where appropriate.

Ensure that the emotional needs of children are treated on an equal level as physical, educational and other needs.

Ensure a restorative approach to all areas of work with children, staff members, volunteers and parents/carers in the Centre are empathetic, positive and non-judgmental.

Provide appropriate services and support for children with special needs and their families.

Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policy and good practice and ensure effective lines of communication are in place to share with the team.

Establish an inclusive environment that welcomes and accommodates the diversity of cultures within the local community and complete self-evaluation which includes the views of children, families, staff members and volunteers.

Ensure all Ofsted registration and inspection requirements are met and essential policies such as Health and Safety, First Aid, Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding and Child Protection, Information Sharing, Confidentiality, etc. are implemented consistently throughout the Centre with respect to the delivery of the early year's education and childcare and out of school provision.

Be committed to providing a quality childcare service and work closely with senior childcare manager to ensure organisation and accreditation aims and objectives are met.
