About the Role
As Centre Manager, you will lead the smooth and compliant operation of our private examination centre, managing a small team that includes an Examination Officer who supports private candidates during their exams. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with awarding organisation regulations, overseeing exam administration, managing budgets, and promoting the centre within the local community. This role requires strong organisational skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to manage busy peak exam periods effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure the centre operates fully in line with awarding organisation rules and regulations
Maintain adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies
Staff Management:
Line manage examination staff, including the Examination Officer, providing training, support, and performance reviews
Ensure staff proficiency in our administrative systems and MIS tools
Examination Administration:
Oversee the planning, organisation, and accurate processing of public assessments and related documentation
Customer Service
Deliver outstanding customer service via email, telephone, and in person
Proactively resolve customer enquiries and complaints promptly
Operational Management:
Prepare and maintain contingency plans for emergencies
Manage smooth transitions between off-peak and peak exam seasons
Promote centre services and source additional venues for high-volume exam days
Financial Management:
Manage the centre's budget responsibly, supporting the business's financial goals
Additional Duties:
Perform other tasks as required, upholding the company's vision and standards throughout all activities
Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in an examination or assessment environment is preferred but not essential
Strong organisational, planning, and customer service skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office and Management Information Systems (MIS)
Good standard of education (A-Level or equivalent, with GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Basic knowledge of budgeting and financial management
Professional appearance and adaptable to evolving demands
