Are you passionate about a career in agriculture? Located in Ickleton, just off the M11 south of Cambridge, this permanent full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to join our established Hybrid Wheat team. As a Cereal Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the successful cultivation and production of cereal crops, particularly wheat. This position combines technical expertise with a strong focus on sustainability, providing the chance to develop a diverse skill set while contributing to the advancement of pedigree crop development and sustainable food production practices.

Your main responsibilities:



Perform dissections, scoring, sampling, and harvest operations to support research and crop development programmes. Implement agricultural techniques to enhance efficiency and support successful crop outcomes. Assist with seed stock handling, drilling preparation, and related operational tasks. Carry out glasshouse activities, including sowing, potting, crossing, phenotyping, and harvesting. Work in field-based settings, contributing to outdoor crop management and research activities. Develop a broad skill set through exposure to diverse tasks across research, glasshouse, and field operations.

Your primary skills:



A positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for working with plants and undertaking outdoor tasks. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of work. Effective team player with the ability to collaborate and communicate with colleagues to achieve shared goals. Previous experience in plant breeding, agriculture, or horticulture is desirable but not essential. Practical experience in harvesting, drilling, and general cultivation activities. Tractor driving experience preferred; full training can be provided. Full and valid UK driving licence Visa to work in the UK - We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
