We are seeking a motivated, hard working Chargehand to ensure instructions received from the Hire Office and Yard Foreman are processed as requested. This will be initially be based at our Wernick Hire depot in Aldridge until the opening of our brand new site in Cannock, where you will be then permanently based.
About The Role
Key Responsibilites:
To be able to repair and refurbish cabins / buildings to the AQPG standard.
To be able to lead and motivate to ensure a productive team.
Ensure depot has stock available for immediate hires and all welfare units are prepared for hire immediately upon return to the depot.
Ensure workshop and hire yard are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
To ensure that cabins, fleet accessories and materials are stored neatly and in the designated areas.
Carry out a UCS inspection prior to delivery and at return to depot and report damages/ missing furniture items.
Ensure cabins/ buildings are hire ready and meet the customer's requirements prior to delivery.
To identify possible cabins in the yard for existing orders and requiring basic refurbishment.
Act as a skills mentor to junior staff or apprentices.
Periodically carry out safety checks on lifting jacks, steps and ladders.
Ensure cabins / buildings are ready and available within the Yard prior to delivery and that the customer's requirements have been met.
Minimise material wastage.
Ensure safe loading and unloading of cabins / buildings and materials.
Ensure all company documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
To attend site to handle service call-outs as required.
To carry out any other duties which may be agreed from time to time.
To attend training as required to carry out duties
Carry out work in accordance with company approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements
To work additional hours (overtime) as is reasonably required by the business
Adhere to current Health & Safety Legislation.
Reporting Lines:
The Yard Chargehand reports directly to the Yard Foreman and Depot / General Manager. In the absence of the Foreman and Depot Manager, the Chargehand reports to the Regional Manager / Director.
