About Us

Amdani is a community support charity based in North Cornelly, Bridgend. The organisation has been operating for the last 20 years and over that time has supported more than 75,000 people with essential advice, signposting, food and other basic necessities.

Our range of activities is very eclectic and driven by our community members, so we need to be dynamic and adaptable in our work.

We have a charity shop, within our community hub, that is both a local resource and a first point of contact for many of our community members to reach us. It is also a valuable source of income that funds some of the services we provide.

Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Volunteers to join our shop team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the community and are eager to contribute their skills and time. As a Volunteer, you will have the opportunity to engage with diverse groups, support various initiatives, and gain valuable experience.

Duties

Assist with back office tasks, providing support to the shop manager with sorting donations, pricing and preparing them for sale. Helping to keep the shop clean and tidy, and displaying products for sale in an attractive manner. Support customers to find items that they are looking for. Serve as a cashier, front of house. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and effective communication within the organisation.

Requirements

Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with individuals from various backgrounds. A team player, open to learning and following our policies. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to deal confidentially and sensitively with our service users and customers. No previous experience required as training will be given.
Please note

This is an unpaid volunteer role that supports the charity while giving you valuable experience, social skills or simply the opportunity to give back to the community

The process

After you have made your application we will invite you for a trial shift so that you can get a feel for the charity, the role and the other team members. At Thai stage we will also ask for a couple of references from people who have known you for 6 months or more, and can discuss the best days and times that suit both you and the charity.
