Fife Council is Scotland's third largest local and planning authority. We are preparing and implementing Fife's new

Local Development Plan,

Fife's Place Plan

, which will shape the future of our communities. To support this, we are recruiting for

two Chartered Planner posts

within Planning Services.


We have two exciting opportunities in our Policy & Place team:


Housing policy & delivery focus:

Support housing policy development and delivery. Work closely with Housing Services and partners to help meet Fife's housing needs. Contribute to planning policy, guidance, events, and project work.

Design & built environment focus:

Advise on design and built environment matters for the statutory planning process. Help shape the format, scope, and content of the new Local Development Plan. Develop planning policy, design briefs, and deliver project work. Fife Council operates a blended work style that combines home-based and office-based working. The Person



You must be educated to SCQF level 9, which includes a Degree or equivalent in Town and Country Planning or a relevant discipline. You will hold full membership of an appropriate professional body, e.g.:


Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). You should have a good understanding of the statutory planning process with an emphasis on development planning.


Your communication skills must include an ability to interact with businesses and Council partners, service users, elected members, and as well as technical teams. You will be required to be capable of listening to what service users want, and confident in advising.


You will meet the essential requirements for the post contained in the role profile. These will be used to shortlist candidates.


You will have the ability to travel within Fife will often be more appropriate.
