Jermyn Street Cheese and Operations Supervisor

We are looking for an organised and proactive Cheese and Operations Supervisor to join our passionate and knowledgeable team, to help ensure the smooth running of Paxton & Whitfield's historic Jermyn Street site.

This role is at the centre of our wholesale and retail operations, balancing the precision of logistics and administration with the specialist art of cheese care. From coordinating cellar activities and dispatching wholesale orders, to managing stock and ensuring every cheese is sold in peak condition, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the high standards our customers expect.

Cheese is at the heart of this role. You'll be hands-on in caring for our cheeses--overseeing quality, shelf-life, and storage, tending to the hard cheese and soft cheese rooms and ensuring that each individual cheese is perfectly prepared for our trade and retail teams. Alongside this, you'll manage forecasting and stock phasing, tackle operational challenges and support the smooth flow of goods through our site.

This is a full-time role for 5 days a week, with typical hours being from 6:30 - 16:00 Monday-Friday. One weekend day (either a Saturday or Sunday) is required to be worked per month. Please see below for a full job description.

Overview

: Responsible for the Jermyn Street site operations and cheese care. Include the administration, dispatch & delivery of Paxton & Whitfield's Jermyn Street wholesale orders, incoming goods, forecasting processes & the maintenance of company infrastructure.

Dispatch & Delivery:

With the Jermyn Street Manager, oversee and undertake all cellar-based activity, including trade fulfilment and dispatch, internal branch transfers & cheese care. Schedule and book all third party and walking deliveries. Ensuring these are booked in a timely manner and in accordance with our financial controls. Have an awareness of needs and demands of the Jermyn Street customer base. Act and communicate accordingly. Ensure that all wholesale orders are dispatched on time and to a high standard Help the Wholesale Cheesemonger cut, wrap and pack wholesale orders, as necessary Make deliveries with other wholesale team members, as required

Stock Management:

Receive internal branch transfers, undertake good ins processes, ensure compliance with our food safety procedures and policies Conduct all monthly stock takes and the associated processes. Conduct weekly mini stock-take and update stock team (Stock Analyst, Quality Manager, Wholesale Account Manager & Jermyn Street Manager) on use-by dates. Act on short-dated stock, as required. Liaising with the shop manager, account manager and buyer as necessary. Ensure all cheese available to the wholesale and retail departments is of the highest quality, undertaking cheese care to ensure its quality. Undertake cheese care in the hard cheese room, as required. Ensure that all cheese outside of quality, or shelf-life parameters is transferred to the retail counter for sale and in accordance with our systems and controls. Undertake the cheese and ambient goods forecasting processes for Jermyn Street. Liaising with the retail manager & trade manager to ensure that forecasts reflect their requirements. Manage the stock phasing process, updating forecasting and phasing, as and when required.

Logistics & Operations:

Be a Keyholder for the site and be responsible for the ordering of cleaning materials Confirm packaging material requirements with Jermyn Street manager on a weekly basis Manage the wholesale email inbox and be the first port of call for all queries from our main site in Bourton-on-the-Water. Delegate to the Trade Cheesemonger and escalate to the Trade Account Manager as necessary.

Food Safety:

Ensure all Jermyn Street trade orders and packed and dispatched in accordance with our food safety standards and procedures. Complete cellar-based food safety and hygiene checks and ensure records are being kept and completed Undertake monthly housekeeping audit, traceability tests and calibration. Flag any non-conformances with the JST or Trade Manager. Ensure that cheese is stored in accordance with our temperature CCP and act if necessary

Health & Safety:

Oversee and maintain clean and tidy area for cheese storage Oversee and maintain clean and tidy warehouse and workspace daily Ensure the trade fulfilment team operate in accordance with our H&S policies and procedures and act if necessary.

Administration:

Ensure all trade paperwork, PODs, order forms etc. are completed correctly and filed for ease of reference and in accordance with our policies and procedures. Formally notify the Trade Account Manager of any invoicing discrepancies in conjunction with Account Manager and Accounts in Bourton-on-the-Water. Produce manual invoices when necessary and upload invoices to Foodbuy and Procure Wizard as necessary

Other Tasks:

On occasion assist on shop floor to cover retail staff lunches Undertake any reasonable request made by Trade or Jermyn Street Manager
