Job Summary


We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Chef to support our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, a passion for food preparation, and a solid background in kitchen operations. This role offers an opportunity to develop your culinary skills while assisting in supervising daily kitchen activities and ensuring food safety standards are maintained. The Assistant Chef will play a vital part in maintaining the high standards of our establishment, contributing to a cohesive and efficient team environment.

Duties



Assist the Head Chef in preparing a variety of dishes, ensuring consistency and quality. Prepare and cook balanced, nutritious meals for residents, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Adapt meals to meet individual dietary requirements (e.g., diabetic, soft diet, vegetarian, allergen-free). Plan menus on a weekly or monthly basis, ensuring variety, seasonality, and resident preferences. Work with the Lead Cook & Care Team to understand residents' nutritional needs and any changes in care plans. Ensure food is presented attractively and served at the correct temperature. Oversee food safety procedures, including hygiene standards and proper storage of ingredients. Manage food preparation tasks, including chopping, marinating, and assembling dishes. Support with menu planning and ingredient procurement to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to health regulations. Assist with serving food to Residents, ensuring prompt and courteous service. Take feedback from Residents and adjust the menu accordingly. Monitor stock levels and communicate needs for replenishment to management. Lead by example in demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and culinary excellence.

Requirements



Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within other Care Settings, hospitality or restaurant settings. Demonstrable supervisory experience or team management skills. Strong knowledge of food production, preparation techniques, and cooking methods. Familiarity with food safety standards and hygiene regulations. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently under pressure. Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide team members. Good communication skills and a friendly attitude towards colleagues and customers alike. Previous experience in Care Home Settings, hospitality or restaurant roles is highly desirable. An understanding and execution of CQC requirements and guidelines around the kitchen environment. A genuine passion for culinary arts and delivering high-quality service.

Pay: 12.75 per hour
