Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Chef to join the kitchen team at charming privately run restaurants in the heart of Aberdeen.

As a dining destination and one of the area's most desirable locations, tarragon leads the way in innovative menus and unique dining concepts using the best of Scottish produce at its' core.

You will be a team player with strong communication skills, excellent food hygiene practices, and remain calm under pressure. Attention to detail is one of your strengths and you have a desire to present consistently high quality food.

The compensation package will include a competitive salary, share of tips, 28 days holiday

Responsibilities

Adhere to all key control systems in the department, ensuring security of all stock.

Optimise all available resources to maintain high levels of productivity and performance.

Coordinate daily tasks with the Head/Sous Chef

Supervise and coach commis chefs

Have a good understanding of food costs, ensuring effective cost control through minimisation of waste and food portioning techniques without compromising standards and service delivery.

Ensure strict compliance with HACCP guidelines.

Contribute to the production of food items in accordance with instructions.

Work closely with the Sous Chef to ensure a consistency of communication is maintained.

Continuously strive to provide food of excellent taste, quality and presentation, which will exceed customer expectations.

Communicate professionally and effectively with other staff and customers.

Ensure excellent food hygiene practice is observed in the entire food chain from storage to preparation and service.

Work flexibly, to develop individual knowledge and assist in the event of absence cover and allow service standards to be maintained.

Maintain close working relationships, encourage and be part of a team environment which promotes good employee morale and ensures a high level of commitment and pride in the business.

Keep the work area tidy and safe and ensure that it is organised ready for the next shift.

Be fully aware of and adhere to the health and safety regulation.
