Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled CDP to join our vibrant kitchen team at Mezcal in Edinburgh. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts and a commitment to delivering high-quality meals in a fast-paced restaurant environment. As a Line Cook, you will play a crucial role in meal preparation, ensuring that each dish meets our standards for taste and presentation while adhering to food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards. Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and measuring spices. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen workspace, ensuring all utensils and equipment are properly cleaned and stored. Monitor food quality during preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency and excellence. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours. Follow food safety guidelines and maintain proper hygiene practices at all times. Help with inventory management by tracking stock levels of ingredients and notifying management when supplies are low.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a culinary role or kitchen environment is preferred but not essential. Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills. Familiarity with food safety standards and practices. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards helping others in the kitchen. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
