The Candidate

We are looking for a passionate experienced Chef de Partie with multi-Rosette or Michelin experience who wants to develop their career and work with fresh food preparing seasonal dishes with flair and imagination. Relevant experience is essential and Catering plus Food and Hygiene qualifications are desirable.

The Role

This is a great opportunity to join an exciting venture and be part of a team of passionate staff delivering the best possible customer experience. The kitchen delivers high quality modern British cooking using classical skills. All food is freshly prepared on site, using quality ingredients from local suppliers to produce exciting seasonal menus along with pub classics. Duties include meal preparation and service and maintaining the hygiene standard of the kitchen. Career progression and extra training are encouraged. Experience of all sections is desirable.

About us

The Greyhound Inn is an independently-owned, downland village, 18th Century pub close to the large and busy market town of Wantage in the Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire. The owners launched the pub in 2015, re-opening after a year of significant renovation, as a great example of a proper village inn, with a high quality fresh food and drink offer and eight very comfortable bedrooms, providing a vibrant social hub for the local community and an attractive destination for visitors, from nearby and afar. The emphasis is on providing high-quality freshly cooked food with a varying menu using seasonal locally sourced ingredients. The pub includes a large high spec kitchen. The pub has won several awards including 2 AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence, an entry in the Good Food Guide and Michelin Guide. Other awards include Muddy Stilettos Best Destination Pub in Bucks and Oxon 2018 and 2023, Good Hotel Guide Editor's Choice for Pub with Rooms and CAMRA awards for the Best Pub in White Horse area. The pub also featured in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Places to Stay in 2018.

The Details

Full-time: 4.5 out of 7 days, including weekends and bank holidays.
