Job Overview:

We are in search of a experirenced Chef/Cook to join our team. We are a 34 bed care setting providing care for the elderly and those with early stages of dementia. The successful candidate will have culinary and dietry experience, be responsible for kitchen functions including ordering supplies, preparation, serving and maintenance of quality standards, sanitation and cleanliness, and work with care staff to meet the needs of the service users.

Working hours are 7.30am - 5pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You will also be able to cover other chef hours for sickness and holidays, as they will with your hours.

Duties and responsibilities (although this is not a definitive list) :



Support the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals and snacks throughout the day in line with our residents' preferences and dietary needs e.g. diabetics, texture modified food, vegetarian Stock management and ordering supplies Menu planning Maintain food safety checks and records as per company requirements Ensure that you are aware of and adhere to company policy and procedures Follow Health and Safety procedures Ensure that all equipment and food service areas are kept clean and in excellent working condition Managing budgets Rota scheduling

Essential Characteristics:



Previous experience of working in a care setting Qualifications in catering Qualifications in food safety/hygiene

General



To attend and participate in staff meetings Complete all mandatory training and other training identified to develop skills To communicate effectively with other staff, relatives and visitors including professional agencies To practice and promote safe working practices within the Home
Responsibilities:

- Prepare and cook nutritious meals for service users according to their dietary requirements and wishes

- Assist staff with serving meals to service users to enable timely eating, ensuring a comfortable and safe dining experience

- Follow food safety guidelines and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area

- Help with food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables or measuring ingredients

- Support clients with any additional needs related to meal times

Requirements:

- Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, care setting or culinary setting is required

- Ability to cook and prepare meals independently

- Understanding of food safety practices and hygiene standards

- Compassionate nature with a desire to help others

- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with staff and service users

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: From 13.50 per hour
