Main Duties are as follows;
Conduct materials testing in accordance with documented standard operating procedures (SOP).
Maintain laboratory equipment and tools in clean, safe and good condition
Work alone to complete materials testing tasks within assigned timelines.
Where applicable, clearly identify non-conforming materials and assist in problem investigation/root cause analysis.
Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues.
Follow preventive maintenance procedures, arrange external service and calibration of equipment where applicable.
Prompt escalation of abnormal events, e.g. yield issues, equipment malfunctions, etc.
Maintain and communicate Key Performance Indicator data for the materials testing lab.
Develop new standard operating procedures or enhancements to improve test quality and productivity.
Key Skills and Competencies are as follows;
Knowledge of battery chemistry and electrochemical principles
Familiarity with laboratory and dry room environments
Strong understanding of chemical safety protocols and handling of reactive materials
High attention to detail and ability to follow strict SOPs and quality protocols
Experience with laboratory software and data acquisition tools
Strong communication, team collaboration, and technical reporting skills
Qualifications
HND/Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a science subject
Experience (desirable) 2+ years of chemical lab, battery R&D or manufacturing environment; prior defence or aerospace sector experience preferred.
Strong analytical, observational and time management skills
Must be eligible for or currently hold security clearance in accordance with defence industry requirements
Experience in any of the following techniques: Thermal analysis (TGA/DSC); Calorimetry; Sample Digestion & Atomic Emission Spectroscopy.
