ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Executive Chef, as Chief Steward you will play a key role in ensuring the cleanliness of all kitchen areas by managing your team of Kitchen Porters. You will also be a key member of the Kitchen management team, supporting the Executive Chef to maintain the highest cleanliness, health and safety standards within the kitchen.

Joining the pre-opening team means you will be instrumental to the success of the hotel\xe2\x80\x99s opening and beyond. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, a people-person and passionate!

As Chief Steward, key aspects of your role will include:

  • Order and manage necessary supplies
  • Liaise to schedule training for kitchen staff for all health and safety and compliance matters
  • Conduct china, glass and silverware inventories
  • Inspect supplies, equipment and work areas
  • Investigate reports and follow-ups on employee accidents
  • Enforce proper cleaning routines for service
  • Ensure all food holding and transport equipment is in working order
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Supervise and manage employees in day-to-day operations
  • Serve as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviour
  • Celebrate success of employees within the hotel and among the team
  • Communicate performance expectations

  • A keen eye for detail
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Good communication skills \xe2\x80\x93 both written and verbal English
  • Previous experience working in five star, luxury/lifestyle hotels
