We're Hiring: Wraparound Childcare Assistants (Part-Time / Full-Time / Apprenticeship)

Morning:

7:30 - 9:00am (Monday-Friday)

Afternoon:

3:00 - 6:00pm (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) 3:00 - 5:30pm (Tuesday)

Term Time Only

- with optional paid overtime during school holidays (holiday clubs)

About the Setting:



We offer a high-quality wraparound childcare service, providing a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for primary-aged children before and after school. Job Purpose:



To support the delivery of a safe, stimulating and inclusive wraparound care service that meets the needs of children and families. This includes delivering structured play, supporting positive behaviour, and adhering to safeguarding and health and safety standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities:



Supervise and engage children in a range of fun, stimulating and age-appropriate activities. Foster positive relationships with children that support their social, emotional, and physical development. Provide a welcoming, safe, and nurturing environment at all times. Support the planning and delivery of structured sessions aligned with the children's interests and needs. Prepare, serve, and clear away healthy snacks in line with food hygiene standards. Assist with daily routines, including registration, hygiene practices, and safe handover to parents/carers. Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and colleagues in a professional manner. Set up and pack away resources and equipment, maintaining a tidy and safe environment.

Safeguarding and Safer Working Practices (Essential Responsibilities):



Demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures and your personal responsibilities in relation to keeping children safe. Immediately report any concerns relating to a child's welfare, behaviour or development to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and appropriate boundaries at all times. Operate in line with statutory guidance including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), Working Together to Safeguard Children*, and the setting's own Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
Undertake relevant safeguarding training as required and engage in regular refreshers. Promote and model safe behaviour in all aspects of the role, including supervision, manual handling, online safety, and first aid.

Person Specification:Essential:



A genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with children A proactive, caring, and responsible approach An understanding of safeguarding and the ability to follow policies and procedures Effective communication and teamwork skills Ability to remain calm and responsive in a busy childcare setting

Desirable:



Experience working with children in a similar setting A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Playwork, or Teaching Assistant support Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene certificates Knowledge of EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) for wraparound care with Reception-aged children
