Overview


The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and the ability to create a safe, engaging, and educational environment. This role involves caring for children, supporting their development, and ensuring their well-being while fostering a positive atmosphere.

To work as part of a team to provide high quality childcare, ensuring the children in our care are kept safe and receive the opportunities to experience a wide range of stimulating play experiences that meet their individual needs.

Duties



1. Support the managers and other staff in the daily running of the nursery.

2. Ensure that the individual needs and routines of the children are met.

3. Help plan, organise, supervise, and carry out an interesting and stimulating range of activities, taking into account the ages and abilities of the children.

4. Take an active part in story-telling, songs and rhymes, music and movements, and outside activities.

5. Have knowledge of the EYFS and Ofsted regulations and keep updated with changes. Plan and implement appropriately for children using the EYFS.

6. Maintain accurate and effective children's records. Observe, support, and extend children's learning and development.

7. Help settle new children as a key person, forming and maintaining relationships with the children and their families, keeping them up to date with regular formal and informal meetings and communications.

8. Work in partnership with parents/carers, make them welcome in the nursery and give feedback on their child's day, promoting parental partnership and involvement.

9. Be part of good practice with regards to special educational needs and inclusion, working closely with SENCO and other outside professionals and agencies as required.

10. Help supervise children at mealtimes and rest times.

11. Ensure that there is no discrimination in the nursery due to disability, gender, race, or religion, encouraging children from ethnic minority groups to maintain their cultural identities.

12. Inform the nursery managers or senior staff of any accident or injury within the nursery.

13. Be willing to hold a current DBS and display a good understanding of safeguarding procedures and to inform the nursery manager/senior of any child protection issues, ensuring the children's safety and welfare.

14. Be aware of the fire evacuation procedure and fire exits.

15. Comply with Health & Safety rules within the nursery.

16. Help keep equipment and play areas in good order.

17. Undertake the shared responsibility of hygiene, health & safety and cleanliness throughout the nursery and deliver the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the bedding and nappy changing area and food/feeding areas.

18. Prepare and serve tea for the children taking responsibility with other staff for hygiene and cleanliness, ensuring nutritional needs are met and food safety regulations are adhered to.

19. Attend and contribute to staff meetings, usually every 4-6 weeks at 6pm and participate in self-development activities such as appraisals and supervisions.

20. Work as a member of the nursery team and communicate well with other staff at all levels.

21. Adhere to the dress code of the nursery.

22. Hold, or be willing to obtain an appropriate first aid certificate.

23. Maintain a high standard of professionalism at all times.

24. Be aware of the nursery handbook containing the nursery's policies and procedures and adhere to them at all times.

25. Attend training days as required and keep up to date with current developments in childcare and education policy and practice.

26. Work alongside the nursery team to implement any recommendations given to the nursery during inspections by regulatory bodies.

Be willing to undertake other duties as reasonably requested by managers.

Experience



Previous experience working with children in a childcare setting is essential. A background in early childhood education or related fields is highly desirable. Strong communication skills in English are required to interact effectively with children and families. Leadership qualities are important for guiding children through various activities. Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a calm and supportive environment is crucial.

Level 3 Early Years Qual or above

Pay: 26,880.00-28,000.00 per year
