We are looking for responsible, caring, and nurturing people to join our team as Children's Home Care Workers. You will work with a newly established team to provide outstanding care to two Wolverhampton young people who have experienced early childhood trauma in our residential home. Within this role, you will support our children and young people emotionally and practically, making sure that they are safe and healthy.

Our Care Workers fulfil a really important role. It is varied work, and no day is ever the same. You will deliver the young person's care plans as well as providing supportive, nurturing care and emotional support to the children and young people we look after.

You will be a calm, engaging and resilient person who is able to work the required shifts and who is motivated to keep our children and young people safe and at the heart of everything that you do.

Who we are:




Wolverhampton City Council Children's Services is a 'Good' rated local authority with 'Outstanding' leadership and management.


We are on our journey to provide outstanding care to our children and young people in care who have experienced multiple previous placements. Wolverhampton currently have a 'good' Ofsted rated short breaks home.


This is a home for two young people who have experienced trauma and who may display risk-taking behaviours, emotional and social needs. You will join our growing team within Specialist Support Services.

You will be:



Willing to work as part of a team; working in a supportive and holistic way to support young people to achieve good outcomes. Child focused and passionate about making a difference to children and young people's lives. Understanding of the challenges of the role but committed to providing good quality care in line with the relevant legislation. Willing and able to work shifts and sleep in shifts. Flexible and able to work weekends, evenings, bank holidays and sleep in on a rota basis to provide continuity of care to our children and young people. Qualified and hold an NVQ 3 Diploma in residential childcare (QCF) or equivalent; or be willing to work towards this.

Our working arrangements




All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empower employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocated where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
