We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Responsible Individual to oversee the leadership, compliance, and strategic performance of our children's home. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of care professionals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care tailored to children's individual needs. This role requires strong leadership skills, experience in assisted living or home care settings, and a genuine commitment to fostering a safe, nurturing environment for children in our residential programme. As the Responsible Individual, you will act on behalf of the organisation to ensure our children's home meets and exceeds the requirements of the
Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015
and complies with
Ofsted
expectations. You will provide strong leadership, promote a culture of safeguarding, and ensure that young people receive the highest standard of care.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic oversight and governance of one or more children's homes.
Ensure full compliance with all statutory regulations, including the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
Work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the home is safe, nurturing, and well-led.
Monitor and review performance, auditing systems, and quality assurance processes.
Lead on Ofsted inspections and respond to regulatory requirements.
Promote a culture of safeguarding, ensuring concerns are acted upon promptly.
Support recruitment, training, and development of staff to maintain a skilled and motivated workforce.
Ensure effective communication with external agencies, families, and stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvement and uphold the organisation's values and vision.
Skills
Experienced in children's residential care, with clear knowledge of the sector.
Confident leading teams, shaping culture, and driving improvement.
Skilled in regulatory compliance and familiar with Ofsted requirements.
Passionate about safeguarding and championing children's rights.
Highly organised, resilient, and able to manage multiple priorities.
A strong communicator, capable of building effective professional relationships.
Essential Criteria
Minimum Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent/working towards).
Strong knowledge of legislation, safeguarding, and Ofsted inspection frameworks.
Ability to travel between homes (if overseeing multiple sites).
