Overview


Peachtree Support Services is a small, family-focused organisation opening a brand-new 3-bed EBD children's home, and we are looking for a compassionate, confident Children's Residential Deputy Manager to help us create a truly nurturing home for the young people we support.

As a close-knit, family-orientated team, we value genuine relationships, emotional warmth, and a commitment to giving children stable, secure care. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new home from the very beginning, working alongside the Registered Manager to build a strong, supportive culture where children can grow, feel heard, and begin to heal.

Duties


As Children's Residential Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the smooth, positive running of the home. Responsibilities include:

Supporting the Registered Manager with day-to-day leadership and oversight of the home Providing reflective supervision, guidance, and support to staff, helping them grow in confidence and skill Ensuring children's daily needs, routines, and emotional well-being are consistently met Supporting the development and implementation of personalised care plans, behaviour support plans, and risk assessments Leading by example in delivering high-quality, therapeutic, child-centred care Contributing to fun, meaningful activities that help young people build self-esteem and positive relationships Ensuring accurate, high-quality recording and reporting, in line with legislation and organisational policies Working closely with families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals, always keeping children's best interests at the heart of decisions Assisting with rota planning, team meetings, training, and ongoing staff development Promoting a safe, nurturing environment and helping maintain consistent routines that support emotional stability Taking charge of the home in the Registered Manager's absence, ensuring standards are upheld at all times

Skills & Personal Qualities


We are looking for someone with a strong blend of experience, leadership, and warmth:

Experience working in a children's residential setting (EBD experience is highly beneficial) A Level 4 Children, Young People & Families Practitioner qualification (or willingness to work towards this) -- essential Strong leadership abilities, with experience supervising or mentoring staff A full driving licence, and confidence transporting children when required Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, families, and professionals Solid understanding of care planning, safeguarding, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements Good IT literacy for recording, reporting, and updating care systems Kindness, patience, emotional resilience, and a genuine commitment to helping children heal and flourish Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, manage responsibilities, and remain calm under pressure
