As the Deputy Manager of a children's residential home in Derby, you will support the Registered Manager in ensuring the welfare and safety of young people, maintaining compliance with regulations, and striving for an Ofsted rating of good or outstanding. You will assist in overseeing all operational aspects of the home, managing staff, and ensuring adherence to care plans, risk assessments, and statutory requirements, while helping to create a nurturing environment for the children.

We are a newly established company with a Responsible Individual who brings experience from an industry-leading care home, supported by a robust financial and legal team. Our goal is to build a strong organisation where staff are not only rewarded but also provided with opportunities for personal and professional growth. Please note, this is a developmental role to Registered Manager.

Duties



Support the Registered Manager to lead the home and ensure the physical, emotional, and safety needs of children are met. Achieve desired outcomes for children and young people as per their care plans and risk assessments. Maintain an OFSTED rating of good or outstanding by supporting the Registered Manager. Oversee day-to-day operations of the home using a quality assurance framework. Provide support and direction to staff to ensure effective staffing at all times. Adhere to legislation and policies including Children's Homes Regulations (England) 2015. Provide high-quality care and involve children in decisions about their care. Create and maintain documentation such as Care Plans and Risk Assessments. Supervise, develop, and manage staff, including conducting supervisions and appraisals. Manage the home's budget and maintain financial records as per policy.

Skills



Experience in residential care for children, including supervisory or management experience. Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, such as Children's Homes Regulations (England) 2015. Possession or willingness to work towards Level 4 Diploma in Leadership & Management and Designated Safeguarding Lead Level 3. Strong communication skills for interacting with staff, children, families, and external stakeholders. Ability to manage and improve performance, oversee budgets, and handle conflict effectively. High level of resilience and organisational skills, with a willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Pay: 34,000.00-40,000.00 per year
