Job Summary


We are currently seeking to appoint committed compassionate night wake support workers to work with children in a residential setting. The young people are always at the centre of what we do, and we are looking for dedicated night support workers to provide high quality care and support to these young people and help improve their resilience and self-esteem. The support you provide will be pivotal to the young people's development and we are committed to safeguarding the young people and providing attentive and compassionate care.

Knowledge and experience:



Applicants must hold Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent. Other relevant qualifications would be accepted.

Experience working with young people who have emotional/behavioural difficulties/residential work/youth work would be advantageous.

This role entails (but is not limited to)

. To remain awake and alert throughout the shift to ensure the safety, security, and emotional well being of the children overnight.

Supporting the young people's routines including promoting good hygiene, diet and evening routines as well as promoting completion of homework in the evening if required.

. Assisting with bed time and waking routines.

Supporting the young people's emotional wellbeing in line with their risk assessments and care plans.

Supporting the young people to maintain cleanliness of their rooms and support with cleaning if required.

Attending appointments such as medical appointments and appointments with other professionals.

Support young people with personal care when necessary.

Supporting young people to set and achieve targets for independence.

Supporting plans on activity planners.

Completing night shift paperwork to a high standard.

Completing handover tasks/documents to a high standard.

Night shift tasks such as cleaning and laundry duties.

Completion of specific checks such as fire check/medication counts/COSHH.

Build and maintain a positive working relationship with other professionals.

Safeguarding the young people.

Supporting the active involvement of young people.

Ability to use own initiative.

Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, such as the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards for Children's Homes, Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, Data Protection Act 2018, and Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

Ensure equality and diversity is incorporated into the culture of the home while also ensuring teamwork meets the needs of children from diverse backgrounds under the legislation, policy, and best practice standards.

Ability to effectively engage, communicate and form positive relationships with young people, parents/carers and professionals.

Ability to yield clear and concise written reports and records of excellent standard.

Ensure you can challenge individuals when necessary and ensure this is done in a calm and objective manner.
