About the Role

As a Residential Support Worker at

Llamau

, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to young people aged 11 and over. You'll help create a safe, nurturing, and empowering home environment where young people can thrive emotionally, socially, and physically.

You will work closely with families, external agencies, and professionals to ensure each young person receives the best possible care and opportunities. Using trauma-informed and psychologically led approaches, you'll support young people in a kind, empathetic, and child-centred way.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver excellent emotional and physical care within a safe and supportive home environment. Support young people in building and maintaining relationships with family and professionals. Use trauma-informed practices to provide tailored, compassionate support. Maintain accurate records in line with Llamau and CIW standards. Identify and escalate safeguarding and health & safety concerns. Contribute to a warm, welcoming, and non-judgemental home environment.

Person SpecificationEducation & Qualifications

Registration (or willingness to register) with Social Care Wales. QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent, or willingness to work towards it within the required timeframe.

Experience

Working within safeguarding frameworks. Understanding the impact of trauma on young people. Managing risk in a calm and responsive manner. Experience in psychologically and trauma-informed environments.

Skills & Knowledge

Ability to key work and engage with young people with complex needs. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Basic IT proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.). Understanding of Health & Safety and organisational policies.

Personal Qualities

Committed to a young person-centred approach. Empathetic, non-judgemental, and a positive role model. Team player with strong professional boundaries. Reflective and committed to continuous improvement. Creative in engaging young people who may be reluctant to engage.

Additional Requirements

Full UK driving licence. Applicants must be aged 22 or over (Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1 exemption).
