Kinsman Children's Home:

Opening a new residential children's home in Kidderminster. We run a home as you would.... children at the heart of every decision we make. Staff are supported. Decisions are thought out and made quickly, with all the staff team involved (you will have an equal voice, whatever level you are employed at). Large recreational budgets for all the children. Senior management who you actually know and see on a day to day basis. Training won't just cover the standard mandatory modules, it will encompass the thoughts and aspirations of the individual staff member, in whatever direction they choose to enhance their career and the lives of the children we look after. However, we are only looking to recruit the best! Our residential home will cater for up to 4 children between the ages of 7 -17. We recognise that staff are at the forefront of a child's life while in residential care and are the heartbeat of a home. Pay

- We are willing to pay our employees what we believe they are worth and recognise that the number one motivator is a high salary. So here are our pay scales:
- Support worker salary grade: 26,000 - 30,000 plus 55 per night sleep in (extra 6k per year). Top of the scale pay rate - 36,000.

- Senior worker salary grade: 28000 - 34,000 plus 55 sleep in (extra 6k per year). Top of the scale pay rate - 40,000.

- Deputy worker salary grade: 34000 - 38000 plus 55 sleep in (extra 6k per year). Top of the pay rate - over 44,000

Homes

- We invest in large properties with ample space, with several living rooms and extensive gardens fostering a tranquil and peaceful environment for the children. The house has a separate games room to escape the long winter nights.

Generous budgets for recreational activities

- Our homes are given substantial investment to allow the children to really experience a childhood, including holidays and day trips, wholesome recreational activities, sporting and special events.

Direct therapeutic work with children -

Kinsman will be working with therapists and professionals in relation to the young person's care planning. This will include life-story work being at the forefront. Staff will be given the opportunity to be trained in therapy and life-story work.

What Kinsman can offer you:

Holidays

- 29 days annual leave - plus 5 personal days. Personal days can be accrued and paid to staff if they have not been taken during that financial year. Annual leave will increase to 31 days after 3 years of service and to 33 after 5 years. That's not a typo!

Overtime

- Time & a half for any overtime. Double pay for bank holidays

Flexible working

hours

- Kinsman recognises that staff will require flexibility: for example, for childcare. Kinsman will provide staff with a 6-month rota.

Shift rota

- Typically 2 days with sleep in's and 4 days off. However, hours are negotiable to meet individual needs.

Holiday home in UK

- Kinsman has purchased a holiday home on the south coast of Devon in Paignton. Staff will have the opportunity after 6 months of employment to book up to x2 holidays a year for themselves/and/or family. This will be at no extra cost.

Holiday home abroad

- Kinsman has access to a holiday home on the Costa Blanca in Spain. Staff will have the opportunity after 6 months of employment to book up to x1 holiday a year for themselves/and/or family. This will be at no extra cost.

Clear grading system

- Kinsman will be offering Support Workers, Seniors and Deputy Managers a 5-grade tier system. Our aim is to retain staff in the long term and staff will be given the opportunity to progress through 3 grades within the first 2 years. An example of an unqualified employee starting salary is 26,000, this could increase to 30,000 plus 55 a night sleep in allowance (an extra 6k per year). Within 2 years a support worker could earn over 30,000, whilst seniors could earn over 40,000.

Retention bonus

- If staff remain at Kinsman for a year, they will receive a 1000 bonus.

Christmas bonus

- exactly what it says on the tin!

Referral bonus

- 500 initially after successful probation then followed by another 500 if that referrals year mark.

Induction programme

- this will include all mandatory training. Followed by in-house training. The Care Home Manager will be providing additional training: Incident and Report Writing, Safeguarding, Challenging Behaviour, Reflection and Role play, Life-story and Care Planning.

Job specification:



- The ability to work in a child focused way with vulnerable children.

- Be able to demonstrate empathy and have an understating of a child's previous and current circumstances.

- Staff to work in accordance with the statement of purpose and policies within the home.

- Work in partnership and in a professional manor with other agencies, such as (police and Social Services).

- Be able to write reports and complete daily recordings (training will be provided).

- The ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues.

- Undertake required training, for example Safeguarding training, Medication training, Food Hygiene and Level 3 in Health and Social care.

- Be able to undertake shift work including bank holidays and cover for sickness.

- Engage young people in activities and complete domestic chores at the home.

- Driving license desirable.

- To become a Senior Support Worker you will be expected to have at least 2 years' experience in social care and completion of the Level 3 in Health and Social Work.
