About Us

Beacon Childcare provides safe, nurturing, and high-quality residential care for children and young people. We are committed to creating child-centred, therapeutic environments where young people can feel safe, supported, and empowered.

We are currently re-opening one of our

solo homes

in Smethwick and are building a brand-new staff team. As part of this, we are looking for a dedicated and resilient

Team Leader

to play a key role in supporting the Registered Manager and leading the team in providing exceptional care.

The Role

As Team Leader, you will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the solo home. You will take responsibility for leading shifts, mentoring staff, and ensuring the young person receives high-quality care in line with their individual needs. This is a hands-on role where you will also provide direct support to the child, helping to create a safe, consistent, and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead shifts and support staff in delivering high-quality care. Provide direct support to the young person, promoting their welfare, safety, and independence. Act as a role model, demonstrating professional standards of care and behaviour. Support the Registered Manager with daily operations and compliance requirements. Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, and reviews. Mentor, guide, and support staff development. Ensure safeguarding and regulatory standards are always met. Work flexibly on a rota basis, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.

About You

NVQ Level 3 in Children's Residential Care (essential); working towards or willing to complete Level 4 is desirable. Previous experience in residential childcare, ideally with shift-leading or senior responsibilities. Understanding of safeguarding, child development, and trauma-informed care. Resilient, reliable, and able to manage challenging behaviours confidently. Strong communication and organisational skills, with a supportive team approach.

What We Offer

Salary between 27,000 - 32,000 (dependent on experience). Additional sleep-in payments. Ongoing training and development, with progression opportunities. Supportive, values-led working environment. The chance to help build and shape a brand-new solo provision.
