About the Role
Gospel Light Community Church is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic
Youth Worker
to support our growing youth ministry. This full-time role involves developing and delivering engaging programmes for young people, working closely with the pastoral team, and helping to create a safe and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver weekly youth sessions and events
Work collaboratively with the church pastoral team to support spiritual development
Build positive relationships with young people and their families
Ensure safeguarding and health & safety protocols are followed
Support the church's wider mission and occasional weekend activities
Essential Criteria
Degree in Youth Work or a related field is required
Some experience working with young people (paid or voluntary)
Ability to engage and build trust with young people from diverse backgrounds
Excellent organisational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of safeguarding, diversity awareness, and health & safety best practices
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Good time management and flexibility to work unsociable hours when required
Satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and the Christian values of the church
Desirable Criteria
Experience leading in person youth activity programmes
Confident user of IT, including Microsoft Office
Experience in programme planning, delivery, and evaluation
Creative and proactive in approach
