Role Summary



Queensferry Sea & Royal Marines Cadets (T.S. Lochinvar), based at Port Edgar, South Queensferry, is seeking enthusiastic

Volunteer Civilian Instructors

to help deliver a wide range of training and activities for local young people aged 9-18.

Civilian Instructors are an essential part of our team -- providing skills, supervision, and inspiration both on and off the water. Whether your strengths are in admin, sport, engineering, teaching, or just motivating young people, there's a role for you.

Key Responsibilities



Assist in planning and delivering evening training sessions and weekend activities. Support cadet learning, welfare, and discipline under the supervision of senior staff. Help with administration, stores, logistics, or specialist instruction depending on your skills. Be a positive role model, promoting the Sea Cadet values of commitment, loyalty, integrity, and self-discipline. Undertake required induction and safeguarding training.

Skills & Qualities



Friendly, reliable, and able to work with young people in a supportive way. Organised, patient, and willing to learn new skills. Any prior experience in teaching, coaching, outdoor activities, or youth work is welcome but not essential. No uniform required -- this role suits those who prefer to contribute in a civilian capacity.

Training & Support



Full induction and mentoring provided, with access to free national training courses in areas like leadership, boating, adventure training, and first aid.

Time Commitment



One or two evenings per week (Monday & Thursday preferred) and occasional weekends depending on activity schedule.

Additional Information



Volunteer role (unpaid). Travel expenses reimbursed where applicable. All volunteers undergo safeguarding and PVG/DBS checks.
