We are recruiting an experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Drivers to operate vehicles safely, legally, and professionally in line with DVSA regulations and Operator Licence undertakings. The role places a strong emphasis on road safety, environmental responsibility, and professional driver behaviour.
The candidate will be covering regular daily collections and delivery sites on a weekly basis with pallets containing Class 9 dangerous goods. The candidate will be required to cover occasional nights out when required by the business.
Additionally, the candidate may be required to undertake General Operative duties if required.
Responsibilities
Operate HGV Class 1 vehicles safely and in full compliance with road traffic law
Carry out General Operative duties when driving work is unavailable or when required by the business
Adhere to company policies covering road risk, vulnerable road users, speed management, and incident reporting
Carry out daily walk-around vehicle checks in accordance with DVSA requirements
Accurately report vehicle defects using company defect reporting systems to Transport Manager
Use digital tachographs correctly, including manual entries where required
Comply fully with Drivers' hours rules and the Working Time Directive (WTD)
Ensure all loads are secured correctly and transported safely in line with DVSA standards
Follow safe systems of work and site-specific safety procedures
Complete delivery documentation, PODs, and transport records accurately
Maintain vehicle cleanliness and roadworthiness
Communicate effectively with the transport team regarding delays, incidents, or compliance issues
Act as a professional ambassador for the company and its customers
Requirements
Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
Road risk and vulnerable road user awareness
Fuel-efficient and environmentally responsible driving
Minimum 2 years' HGV Class 1 driving experience
Full ADR Licence or ADR Class 9
Valid Driver CPC qualification
Valid Digital Tachograph card
Strong understanding of UK drivers' hours, WTD, and road safety legislation
Ability to complete vehicle checks and defect reporting independently
Acceptable driving record (subject to insurance and compliance checks)

If successful, there will be a probation period of three months. Upon passing the probation, an increase to the hourly pay rate will be issued.
Working Hours
Monday - Friday, 7:45am - 4:00pm (subject to delays and overnight work)
